Since it's relevant and in the news, there are a few things things that everyone should know about jus soli (aka "birthright citizenship"). A lot of news outlets get these things wrong, and there's a lot of propaganda about the topic, so it's important to be informed.
(obligatory: I am not a lawyer, but I care a lot about these topics & about getting them right)
Since 1868, the United States has granted citizenship to all people who are born in the US (excluding children of foreign diplomats). This is a result of the Fourteenth Amendment, which was passed to nullify the Dred Scott case and ensure children of slaves were citizens.
Friends who travel a lot: I need a new carry-on bag! Should I get the Travelpro (Wirecutter recommendation), or the Away?

I have strong opinions against un-crushable rollerbags. Reason: regional jets. I'm a backpack sort.
Yeah, this is why Wirecutter only recommended soft-shell bags, and that makes sense.
I admire your ability to use just a single backpack, but I don't think I could do that. If for no other reason than that, if they make me check it, then I'm kind of screwed.
