If you want an example of the tone argument, scroll twitter for all the people complaining about Dr. Blasey Ford's "uptalk" and "vocal fry."
There is nothing wrong with feminine-coded vocal patterns, and they exist as a coping mechanism in a misogynist culture.
We live in a culture that codes high voices as vapid. So women lower their voices, and suddenly our "vocal fry" is a problem.
We live in a culture that labels women who speak with authority. So we use tone to avoid being called "bitchy" and suddenly our "uptalk" is a problem.
Women didn't up and decide to employ different ways of speaking out of thin air. They are coping mechanism for living in patriarchy.
So of *course* every single one of those coping mechanisms is going to get derided as "girly" and "not serious." Because how fucking dare we cope.
