So we know this, Russian government representatives reached out to the Trump campaign in 2015 and undertook multiple initiatives and had multiple points and series of contacts with Team Trump for the next couple years.
It's not just the Trump Tower meeting. It's not just the interactions with Wikileaks. It's not just the Russian ties to Cambridge Analytica. It's not just Konstantin Kiliminik, a Russian agent working hand in hand with campaign chair Paul Manafort.
It's not just the ties between Flynn and the Russians. it's not just the links between the Russians and Eric Prince through the meeting in the Seychelles and beyond that. It's not just the ties of Wilbur Ross. It's not just the Trump Organization dealings with Russia.
No one knows the skeletons in Donald Trump's closet better than Donald Trump. No one knows the crimes he has committed, aided or abetted so well. No one has such a firm grasp on the wrong-doing that was the daily bread of the Trump Organization, his children & close associates.
Now, after an election defeat that was humiliating regardless of what pundits may say,a blue wave that produce greater Democratic gains in the House than any since Watergate & big wins at the state level,Trump is haunted by his knowledge of what coming investigations may uncover.
He does not know what Mueller may have. It may not implicate him. It seems likely to implicate others close to him. He may have a plan for sidestepping the findings of campaign finance wrong-doing relating to hush money uncovered by the prosecutors of the SDNY.
What do you do when your country breaks your heart? When not once but repeatedly it fails to live up to the aspirations of even those citizens with the most modest of aspirations for it? When the ideals of its founders are left to yellow and be forgotten in archives and museums?
What do you do when the political discussion is commandeered not by those w/merely a different ideology but by people who are fundamentally corrupt, evil and valueless. They drape themselves in the flag and profess devotion to their God and demean both every time their lips move.
What do you do when their champions in the media are a brigade of third and fourth-rate intellects, sneering, hateful, sanctimonious arsonists of journalism, enemies of truth, defenders of the indefensible?
Tuesday is Judgment Day for America. We will stand before history and declare who we are. We will not be able to lie or dress up the truth about our flaws. The light being shined on us will be so bright that only our true character as a nation will show.
If the GOP maintains its majority in the Senate and the House of Representatives our testimony will be crystal clear. Incumbents tend to be battered in mid-term elections. Especially unpopular ones. And this president has been historically unpopular.
So if he does not suffer a major setback, if he does not lose control of the House of Representatives, then it will be seen by all--especially him and those around him--as not just vindication but a rousing endorsement, a plea for more of the same.
If Trump had never met a Russian, he should be impeached for his corruption while in office. Had he never been corrupt, he should be impeached for trying to defraud the American people with hush money payments during the campaign.
If he had never done that, he should be impeached for his obstruction of justice in the Russia investigation. If he had never done that, he should be impeached for his willful dereliction of his presidential responsibilities in Puerto Rico and elsewhere.
If he had never done that he should be impeached for his serial violation of human rights and international law at our borders. If he had never done that he should be impeached for his decades of hidden tax fraud.
