"Playing competitive Magic is a privilege, not a right. Having squandered that privilege, I ask that beginning with me and going forward that the penalty [for cheating] be permanent suspension from organized Magic."

Lanthier asked me to share this statement, which he sent to WotC yesterday. While I'm still obviously very upset about the cheating and the deceit, I'm satisfied that he's finally taking the correct steps forward in not returning to the game and fully admitting to his actions.
Furthermore, I'm happy that he's correctly identifying one of the big issues with those who cheat and otherwise scum their way through Magic events: they're breaking the social contract of fair play that we must adhere to, and should lose the privilege of participation.
