It’s odd because I DID grow up around a predominately Asian American culture—- but I know not to use an Asian accent as part of a joke/character.
It’s weird how I got that understanding but Asian Americans who grew up alongside a black culture... did not.
Things i picked up in a predominately Asian culture involved removing shoes before entering the house, general respect for multi-generational households and RINSE the rice.
I don’t however suddenly don Geisha wear or bow or have an accent.
