A poetic Shinto perspective on the dignity of objects. Also @MarieKondo doesn’t care how many books you keep - very sadly the author assumes White Western resistance and criticism of Kondo is xenophobia instead of simple attachment to stuff. https://t.co/bmLDTJQc6w pic.twitter.com/nOFgeEjIYQ
It’s so sad that opinion pieces continually chastise eg Western, cis, straight, white people for lack of understanding and, at the same time, state it’s unacceptable or even xenophobic to ask questions like “where are you from?” that begin conversations of mutual understanding.
(To steal the lexicon of the left) Try to be a “safe space” and an ally for free expression and awkward questions. It’s people who are conspicuously unoffendable that dispel ignorance.
