I'm on research days again so I'm providing my team with random space facts among the useful stuff.
Wanna hear weird space facts? Here:
Turns out that having sex in zero-G is pretty damn difficult because of fluid changes and how fluids behave in general...!
Essentially, having an erection in the first place, not to mention keeping it is pretty difficult due to fluid shifts to your upper body.
Apart from that, any fluids for lubrication would just... not really spread or even just stay inside of the body openings.
More weird facts: A private texas corp is investigating the advantages of producing silver in microgravity - for golg clubs. Seriously.
You can't whistle in space - at all! Not enough pressure, not enough air molecules passing by your lips to make a sound!
Flowers and other plant scents change entirely in space because they develop based on atmosphere, heat, etc You can't smell flowers in space
There is no laundry in space. You pretty much can't wash clothes - uses too much water! Astronauts just take a LOT OF UNDIES with them!
More weird facts: No bread in space! Tortillas is where it's at. The crumbs of bread going literally everywhere could cause too many issues.
And just for the fun of it from my last space facts thread:
Fingernails pop off from your fingers on a space walk - we don't know why!
Some theories include:
Fluid changes and fluids collecting underneath, not really feeling how hard you grab things and nails popping off.
They grow back, don't worry. Pretty freaky though! :)
That's it for today. So many tabs open! Back to actual work :)
Honestly though, if you want to spend hours wading through weird research stuff, NASA has an entire database:https://t.co/n48SUAzhVl
Here's one fact that's pretty much irrelevant for humans but still cool (pun incoming). Red Giant stars aren't actually that hot. :)
Since they bloat when old, but don't increase in mass, it means that the same amount of energy heats up a bigger object. So it gets colder.
